Activity Type
Campaign A campaign is a way to uniquely differentiate projects or advertising and marketing campaigns that will be tracked separately. A campaign can be a self-contained, single sourced entity that only tracks one thing or it can track multiple sources (lead sources) if desired. After creating a campaign, a set of links are provided that can be used to track clicks, image or video views and clicks, file downloads, or QR code views and clicks.
Campaign Link A campaign link is a web address (URL) that can be used in advertising medium, both printed or digital advertising, to reference the campaign.  The campaign link is used for tracking when it is clicked on or typed into the browser.
Campaign Name A campaign name can be almost any human readable text, which will help to identify the campaign within reports. This name is not used within any links or for tracking.
Campaign URL A campaign URL is a web address (or link) that can be used in advertising medium, both printed or digital advertising, to reference the campaign. The campaign URL is used for tracking when it is clicked on or typed into the browser.
Desktop Hits Desktop hits is a value representing the number of times the campaign or lead source link or URL has been clicked on or typed into a browser by a user on a desktop computer.
Digital Ad Views
Digital Tracking Image Digital Tracking Images are not required for a campaign or lead source, so you may leave this section blank if you won’t be using it. They are only used to track image views for digital format marketing and advertising, as they cannot be used to track images on printed marketing and advertising materials. If you will be tracking image views, you can upload an image of your choosing using the browse and upload buttons below. After you upload the image, provide the unique URL shown in the tracking image section to your web developer and ask them to use this URL as the Image Source URL. Read more about image source URL’s here.
Embedded Image Views If your image URL was displayed on another website, and the user clicks on this image, the referring website is logged in the system before redirecting the user to the specified destination or content. This provides valuable feedback on where your links are being displayed and which websites link back to your campaign.
End Date When creating a campaign, an end date can be specified, which controls when the campaign officially ends. On the the end date, the campaign will automatically stop working. If a user tries to use a link or scan a QR code after the end date, an ‘Invalid Campaign’ message will display and the user will not be forwarded to the specified redirect URLs. The end date is based on 12:00 AM of the selected day and can be set as far in the future as desired. If the end date is not set, the campaign will never expire.
First-Time Visitors
Lead Source A lead source is a way to uniquely differentiate locations or venues for advertising and marketing campaigns that need to be tracked separately.
?? While the advertising campaign is the same, each of the lead sources should be tracked separately to determine which source has the most return on investment. Lead Sources are used as the mechanism to track each of these sources within the same campaign.
While campaigns are used to track a single project, Lead Sources are used as the mechanism to further refine and track different advertising sources within the same campaign. Each lead source added to a campaign allows you to separately track different metrics for a specific advertisement.
Lead Source Name The lead source report name can be almost any human readable text, which will help to identify the lead source within reports. This name is not used within any links or for tracking.
Lead Source Tracking Name A lead source tracking name is a custom name or code that identifies a specific lead source in the URLs on your promotional materials for a campaign. Lead source tracking codes are NOT case sensitive, but MUST be unique per campaign. They can contain numbers, letters, dashes/hyphens and underscores, but they cannot contain spaces or any special characters.
Link Domain Each campaign must use a link domain as the primary URL for tracking purposes. If you have purchased a custom domain package, your domain names will show here and allow you to create campaigns using your own domain name! If you don’t have any custom domain names, you may select any of the available domain names provided by MeasureHound for use with your campaign. This will be the code you will use on your marketing materials and websites for display and use. It is highly recommended that you don’t change the link domain after you have created your marketing materials, because your old link domain URLs will no longer work!
Mobile Hits The number of times the campaign or lead source link or URL has been clicked on or typed into a browser by a user on a mobile device.
Mobile URL A mobile URL is the desination web page (URL) to which a link click or QR code scan will take the user on a mobile device.   Since MeasureHound knows if the user is on a desktop/laptop computer or a mobile device, a different redirect URL can be set to redirect the user based on the type of the device is being used.  If no mobile URL is entered, the redirect URL will be used.
QR Code A QR Code is a symbol image that can be used to encode up to 7,089 characters. The data encoded in a QR code can be read by a QR code reader which decodes the information and redirects to a URL, if that is the format of the data.
QR Code Hits The number of times the campaign or lead source link or URL has been accessed by scanning a QR code.
QR Code Image Image used to scan QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) first designed for the automotive industry in Japan. A barcode is a machine-readable optical label that contains information about the item to which it is attached.

Redirect URL A redirect URL is the desination web page (URL) to which a link click or QR code scan will take the user.  Since MeasureHound knows if the user is on a desktop/laptop computer or a mobile device, a different redirect URL can be set to redirect the user based on the type of the device is being used.  If no mobile URL is entered, the redirect URL will be used.
Repeat Visitors Each tracked event attempts to store a cookie on the user’s device. Each time the user views the content in your campaign, the system looks for the appropriate Campaign or Lead Source cookie. If it exists, it updates the cookie and logs the user as a repeat visitor.
Total Hits The total amount of views between mobile, desktop and QR codes.
Total Visitors
Tracking Code A tracking code is a unique combination of 9 alphanumeric digits and is created by the system automatically when a campaign is created. The tracking code is used to identify the campaign in the tracking link or URL in both digital and print advertising materials. Tracking codes can be used interchangeably with or without dashes. Basic Campaign tracking codes are the most cost-effective tracking method and are primarily used in digital marketing, because they don’t require a user to type them in as they would on printed materials.
Campaign Tracking Name A campaign tracking name is a unique name that identifies the campaign in the URLs on your promotional materials. The tracking name is used to identify the campaign in the tracking link or URL in both digital and print advertising materials. Tracking names are NOT case sensitive, but MUST be unique. They can contain numbers, letters, dashes/hyphens and underscores, but they cannot contain spaces or any special characters.
Start Date When creating a campaign, a start date can be specified, which controls when the campaign officially begins. The campaign will start to work automatically on the start date without any manual intervention. If a user tries to use a link or scan a QR code prior to the start date, n ‘Invalid Campaign’ message will display and the user will not be forwarded to the specified redirect URLs. The start date is based on 12:00 AM of the selected day and can be set as far in the future as you would like.
